The Pink Ipod

It’s the small iPod with one very big idea: Video. Now the world’s most popular music player lets you enjoy home movies, video podcasts, and more. The larger, brighter display means amazing picture quality. In six eye-catching colours, iPod nano is stunning all around. And with 4GB and 8GB models starting at just S$ 248, little speaks volumes.

I was getting bored of my 3 years old ipod nano and was thinking of getting a new mp3 player. Just as I was shopping around, an email came informing me that I was picked by Ripplevox to take part as a trial user for Samsung latest range of MP3 players.

I was both shocked and amazed by the technology that this baby came with. The YP-T10 came with Bluetooth function. That means no more wires! How cool can that be.

Design And Colour

Samsung YP-T10 comes in 5 colours namely Midnight Black, Mystic Purple, Maple Red, Lime Yellow and White Cloud. Since I was just a trial user, no bargaining chips here. I would prefer a White Cloud actually.

The trial set comes with a Bluetooth Headset SBH500

Samsung YP-T10

Functionality

The T10 is also equip with a 2-inch colour LCD display which seems to be the norm for MP3 players. Comparing with Ipod Nano, I would still prefer the design of Nano. The edges are kind of rough when handling it.

Did I mention that the T10 lets you play movies on it? A full charge lets me use up to 30 hours of music and 4 hours of movie. Nice huh?

Instead of a scroll wheel like the Nano, T10 comes with touch sensitive keypad commonly found on mobile phones. High tech enough?

Pair with the Bluetooth headset SBH500 and I can control the playback via the Headset while the T10 is safely inside my pocket.

Improvement opportunities

There is still room for improvement in terms of design. It’s shape is unique but the edges are rough to touch.

Overall Likes & Dislike

I am seriously consider this as an alternatives to Ipod or Creative. The functions that I cannot live without are available in T10. Bluetooth, Radio, Able to play Movies and Touch Sensitive keypads. What more can I ask for?

Oh well maybe just reduce the sensitivity of the keypad. It is just too sensitive. Many times I move to a different menu on the T10 without me knowing.

Ever since Nuffnang announced the launched of Nuffnang Gliterati, it had created quite a stir with the bloggers. Many vowed not to remove the ads from other South East Asia Ads network while others decided to serve only Nuffnangs Ads from now.

For bloggers who had sign up with GrabMyAds, you would have noticed that there was incoming ads send to your blogs since last night. (See the ads on the left of my blog) I had contacted GrabMyAds for more information since I did not receive any email regarding the incoming ads. Turns out that the ads were send to all bloggers who had signed up for GrabMyAds.

So far, only Blog2U and Nufflets had not reacted to Nuffnang announcements or were they planning a new strategy to counter all this?

Is it pure coincidence or is Nuffnang trying to convince more bloggers to join them after the big blunder that Advertlets had made in the beginning of 2008? Starting on the 13th of January 2008, Nuffnang will kick start it’s exclusive program Nuffnang Gliterati for it’s exclusive members.

What is an “exclusive Nuffnang blogger”?

An exclusive Nuffnang blogger is a blogger that has NO advertisements from any other ad network that originates from South East Asia on his/her blog.

How do I apply for the Nuffnang Gliterati club?

You do not need to apply and will automatically be included as a Nuffnang Gliterati as long as you do NOT have any ads from any other ad network that originates from South East Asia. Our crawlers will automatically include your blog in the club within 48 hours.

Note that if an ad from another ad network is placed on your blog at any time, our crawlers will pick it up within 48 hours and you will automatically be removed from the program.

Why You Should Join The Nuffnang Gliterati?

1) Payment Rates for both Cost Per Unique Visitor and Cost-Per-Click.

The less ads a blogger has on his blog, the higher share of voice and the less each ad will have to compete with other ads for attention. Hence, the higher the CTR and the higher the value of that particular ad space on the blog.

That is why for example you will never see 8 different ads on the same page on a newspaper unless it’s in the Classifieds where each advertiser pays a small amount.

As a result of that, Glitterati Nuffnangers will earn 20-40% more than ordinary Nuffnangers.

2) Payment Terms

In the advertising industry just like in many industries, payment from advertisers come from specific terms like 60 or 90 days. In the past, Nuffnang has used its cash reserves to pay off bloggers for campaigns that we still have not been paid for by our clients. Due to the great increase of bloggers in the Nuffnang community, we are no longer able to provide this service for all our Nuffnangers and unfortunately will have to restrict this service to Nuffnang Gliterati.

However, all Nuffnangers will still be paid in a timely manner as stipulated in the Program Table.

3) Advertorial Opportunities

Many bloggers know that while banner ad campaigns earn a decent stable income, it is advertorials that pay the most. Each advertorial depending on the advertiser, commitment and traffic can earn a blogger a minimum of SGD 50 to SGD 1,500 not including freebies that may sometimes be included.

In the past, advertorial opportunities were available for all our Nuffnangers. However, due to the high demand for advertorials and the need for us to narrow down which blogger of the thousands will get advertorials, only exclusive bloggers will now be eligible for advertorials.

4) Community Events

Nuffnang is known to organize the biggest community events ever which range from free movie screenings, lunch meet ups and many more. We find that in many of these events, many Nuffnangers would like to bring guests along with them and we at Nuffnang would like to oblige as much as we can.

As such, 70% of the seats for each event will be allocated to Nuffnang Gliterati AND the guests they may bring.

5) Contests

Contests among Nuffnangers have been something we’ve been having quite a lot with many bloggers winning everything from free meals at Friday’s to mobile phones or even the upcoming contest of a free trip to Gold Coast. With the high demand for these contests, we will give priority to Nuffnang Gliterati with 70% of the prizes to be allocated to them and the remaining 30% to be allocated to non-Nuffnang Gliterati.

6) Innit

Innit is a tool developed and hosted by Nuffnang to add the additional service of driving traffic to any Nuffnang blog. This tool will now only be restricted to Nuffnang Gliterati since it is within our best interest of our community not to indirectly drive any traffic to a future competing network.

The vast majority of the Nuffnang Community is already eligible for the exclusive program so there isn’t much to worry about. All of us at Nuffnang sincerely hope that this new initiative will show how much we do appreciate your loyalty.

Will bloggers start moving towards Nuffnang by serving only Nuffnang ads once Nuffnang Gliterati starts? Nuffnang Gliterati not only affect Advertlets but Grabmyads as well. Have Nuffnang officially started a war with all other South East Asia Advertising Network? Will Nuffnang break any Competition Act in Singapore or Malaysia?

Would you serve only Nuffnang Ads from now on?

Has Advertlets closed their doors after just a year of operation? Their domain had expired and was not being renewed. Did Josh forget to renew Advertlets domain? His forgetfulness had caused a major disruption in the blogosphere. Thousands of blogs could not load and have been redirected to their registrar’s domain parking page.

I have always been a been a believer of Advertlets but time and time again, Advertlets have disappoint her supporters. The first time I encountered problems with Advertlets was when their ads redirected visitors to my blog to another site. Then came the slow loading of the ads which makes my blog load slow as well. And now THIS!

HOW COULD A COMPANY HAVE FORGOTTEN TO RENEW THEIR DOMAIN!

This mistake is going to cost them. Thousand of blogs are affected! Have Advertlets became so proud of their achievements that they have overlooked this? They have lots of explaining to do to their publishers and their customers!

I learn of the disaster from hanneng’s blog. It took me awhile to remove all of Advertlets ads unit. For now, the Advertlets ads unit are not coming back till they resolved this issue and provide a satisfactory explanation to us, the publisher.

HTC 838 Pro with Bak2U Anti-Theft Software

HTC 838 Pro With PhoneBak Anti-Theft Software By BAK2u.com

I have been waiting to try out PhoneBak Anti-Theft software by BAK2u ever since I read about it on computer times. In my opinion, this is a must have for my gadgets since I tend to misplace them from time to time. Since Paddy of BAK2u is looking for people to try out the software, I sign up for it immediately.

So what is PhoneBAK? [Information taken from BAK2u.com]

Anti-theft software that works quietly in the mobile phone device (Symbian OS, Sony Ericsson, PDA phone, Blackberry) by automatically checking if the gadget is stolen. It sends the thief’s contact number, location and other details to help get the device back.

The thought of installing PhoneBak Anti-Theft software scares me actually. I have more experience using a Nokia Symbian phone than Windows Mobile 6 and it is the first time I am installing a program into HTC 838 Pro. Luckily the software comes with a idiot proof installation guide. You can’t go wrong following the steps in the manual. Did I mention that it is a installation guide with pictures?

Alert SMS Send After Inserting Another Sim Card

I did have a little problem trying to configure the PhoneBak software. Turns out you need to save and exit the PhoneBak software before running the trial test. Took me awhile to understand. Once you have done the configuration done, the phone is protected!

Are we still biting the “Lowest Unique Bid Wins” concept after the well known Tatarah abandon this idea barely a month after their hype up launched in Singapore? I am not so sure about that.

This auction site, Auction Universal was featured in the papers on their “Lowest Unique Bid Wins” concept the very same concept that Tatarah had abandon.

After reading the article, it turns out that Tatarah was not the first auction site to use the “Lowest Unique Bid Wins” concept in Singapore. Auction Universal is! This is something which is unheard of till the papers featured them. The auction site was started by a 27 year old Singaporean and his brother. They used six months to set up the auction site. According to the report, he was doing his own coding for the auction.

Maybe it was a small start up thus the site seems too simple for my taste. There wasn’t any fancy graphics like Tatarah or promotion going on. The products featured were kind of limited as well. There were six items for bidding only. Kind of disappointing but hey we had to remind ourselves that this was just a startup by 2 brothers!

Since I miss the bidding for Nintendo Wii and Play Station Portable at Tatarah might as well give Auction Universal a try. As the site was still not well known among Singaporean, I might just get lucky and get the Nintendo Wii with my lowest unique bid!
