I wanted to excel in this coming Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) but no matter how hard I revised, the formulas just refused to stay in my head. One minute it was there and the next, it was gone.
As the pressure builds up, I realized that cheating was the only option available. The temptation of getting flying colors was just too great. Wouldn’t it be nice if you pass with flying colors without mugging for it?
Maybe I could just bribe the markers or invigilator for the answers or bribe my classmate who got an A in Maths to show me the answers when the invigilator were not looking? This major examination was going to determine which school I would be eligible. My career and my future. In the end, I decided cheating was not the solution. The guilt would be on me for the rest of my life but someone did not share the same opinion as me.
A Teacher from a school in the north of Singapore was caught cheating during the Tamil language PSLE paper last month. Cheating by a Teacher? I blinked not once but twice while reading the article’s headlines. This was something I had never heard before. Weren’t Teachers supposed to be the invigilator during the exams? Why was this Teacher taking the Tamil language Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) paper?
It turns out that the said Teacher had corrected the wrong answers in the scripts of three pupils during the PSLE paper. The pupils’ original answers were crossed out and rewritten in a different ink and handwriting. How smart was that? I almost laugh to my death at this point.
Any tom, dick and harry would know to use the same ink if you want to cheat. Obviously the Teacher did not think that the markers were too tired to miss that. A full check was conducted after the discrepancy was found in 2 papers of the student.
The Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) was called in to investigate what was believed to be the first case of cheating in the PSLE. As to what prompted the Teacher to took such a path, only he/she would know.

Wasted…
That is the end of the career.
I am just curious what makes the Teacher do it. Guess the newspaper would not be publishing the findings.
